Incubators at UC San Diego and UC Irvine offer startups a place to lay the foundations of their businesses, within easy reach of expert faculty members, bright student interns and advanced technical facilities.

For more mature businesses in the Irvine region, CalIT2 offers sustainability consulting that can result in both energy and cost savings. In addition, partnerships can be tailored to fit the specific research needs of a company; CalIT2 can identify the necessary expertise across the institute, form a team that typically includes company representatives, and find solutions to address the company’s needs in a meaningful way.

In order to carry out our commercialization of university research, we chose Qualcomm Institute Innovation Space because we get lots of services and benefits that it would have been very, very difficult for a startup to put together. These are using the prototype lab, access to clinical researchers, people who would help us and tell our startup without spending an arm and a leg. The availability of these professional services is really what attracted us to QI.

CalIT2 offers a range of shared facilities to help accelerate research. Many (but not all) facilities operate on a fee-for-service basis, with discounted rates often available. The facilities are also available to local companies for their use. Please contact the individual facility for details.
